PROVIDING LEGAL DEFENSE FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS
The Federal Defender Program, Inc is a PRIVATE not-for-profit LAW FIRM DEVOTED TO EXCELLENCE IN FEDERAL CRIMINAL DEFENSE
The Federal Defender Program, Inc. is an elite public legal defense firm helping people in the Northern District of Georgia. We are solely funded by an annual grant from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
EXPERIENCED
We value our clients and strive to provide exceptional and compassionate client-centered representation and engagement. We use a multi-disciplinary team-based approach including attorneys, investigators, paralegals, mitigation specialists, social workers, and administrative professionals who work together in pursuit of the best possible outcome for every client.
Our attorneys, investigators, and other professionals have years and in some cases decades of experience litigating criminal cases exclusively in federal court. Some come to us from state defender offices. Some have experience clerking for Judges or working at private law firms. All come with a profound sense of dedication to the mission and a deep respect for our clients.
INSPIRED
We are inspired by the vision of a world in which the quality of a person’s legal representation does not depend on that person’s background, resources, or identity. We strive to make this vision a reality in every case every day.
Because we know how fortunate we are to have so much experience and dedication in house, we make sure that every case benefits from the combined wisdom of the entire team by regularly brainstorming case issues at our weekly roundtable. We enjoy tackling case challenges together and we also rejoice together when there are victories.
INDEPENDENT
We do not work for the Court or the prosecution. Indeed, independence has always been at the core of our structure. At our founding in 1973, we were created as a community defender organization rather than a traditional public defender agency specifically to ensure the freedom to advocate without fear of negative consequences so that pursuing results on behalf of our clients remains our sole focus.
Independence allows us the ability to retain expert services whenever it would be beneficial to a case without seeking approval from the Court.
