OUR MISSION
The Federal Defender Program, Inc. (“FDP”) is a private non-profit law firm devoted to excellence in federal criminal defense. We are funded pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act and appointed to represent individuals who cannot afford the high cost of retaining a qualified federal criminal defense practitioner.
Our VISION
We are inspired by the vision of a world in which the quality of a person’s legal representation does not depend on that person’s background, resources, or identity.

You want the best criminal defense lawyer you can find. We take pride in providing exceptional legal defense to people who need it the most. We embrace each case with the expertise and empathy it deserves, and although we are appointed by a judge, we are an independent law firm and exclusively loyal to our clients.
JOIN THE FIGHT
Each member of our staff is fighting for the lives of our clients and their families. Additionally, the Federal Defender Program offers students the opportunity to get legal experience throughout the year. We have two programs: (1) a ten-week summer internship program; and (2) the extern program affiliated with the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Emory University.
OFFICE & COURTS
The Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Georgia works from our office in Downtown Atlanta.
