OUR MISSION

The Federal Defender Program, Inc. is a private, nonprofit law firm devoted to uplifting our clients and their causes through heart-led excellence in federal criminal defense. We provide exceptional, compassionate, cutting-edge, and client-centered representation grounded in respect for the dignity and humanity of every person we serve. Our multidisciplinary team of attorneys, investigators, paralegals, mitigation specialists, social workers, and administrative professionals works collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients—helping them rise from their current circumstances, resume their lives with better futures, reunite with their families, and reclaim what comes next.

We embrace each case with the expertise and empathy it deserves, and although we are appointed by a judge, we are an independent law firm and exclusively loyal to our clients.

Each member of our staff is fighting for the lives of our clients and their families. Additionally, the Federal Defender Program offers students the opportunity to get legal experience throughout the year. We have two programs: (1) a ten-week summer internship program; and (2) the extern program affiliated with the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Emory University.
