Update: Tuesday Group Moving to Thursdays in March

Did you know that every Tuesday for more than forty years, the lawyers at the Federal Defender Program have met for a working lunch? In the FDP library at 101 Marietta Street, we engage in what Justice William O. Douglas (who was, like our own Stephen Johnson, a son of Yakima, Washington) first called a “marketplace of ideas.” We debate legal questions, brainstorm our cases, and cheer each other on.

Did you know that every private attorney in the Northern District of Georgia (and beyond) is welcome to join us? The perks are few (no free parking, no boxed lunches), but we offer a handful of benefits: Private attorneys get to jump to the head of the line, get to meet new people, and get to join the FDP circle of trust for an afternoon.

One last note: During the month of March, we will convene Tuesday Group each Thursday. This feels a bit heretical, like moving the Super Bowl to Wednesday, or naming a college sports conference with eighteen teams: The Big Ten. But we’ll give a try the rest of this month. In April, we’ll slide Tuesday Group back to Tuesday.

If you’d like to join us, feel free to send one of us an email with a few bullet points, so we can be ready for you when you get here. We hope to see you soon at Tuesday Thursday Group.
